Brain Sharpening and Neurobic Activity

How to use it so you don't lose it?

The brain grows at an amazing rate during its development. About 2,50,000 neurons are added every minute! At birth, almost all the neurons that the brain will ever have are present.

Cells those are not used for a period of time, simply degenerate.

Brain sharpening exercises of our programs are finding missing numbers, missing words, puzzles, cryptograms, logical questions, riddles etc which has proven to be best brain stumilants and helps in enhancing creative thinking and problem solving skills.

Remember that mental fitness of your child (ability to concentrate, reason, visualize, imagine, make decision, solve problems and think creatively) depends greatly on how well and how often he/she exercise his/her mind for clear and purposeful thinking.

The CCDP in particular introduced a radically different way of teaching that doesn’t give kids answers but rather demands high levels of critical thinking. “They have to use their own reasoning, the thinking process is more important than having the right answer.” Such practices create independence and analyzing skills within children. It is commonly known fact that mentally stimulating exercises protect the brain from declining.

It is very important to think or observe from every possible angle to arrive at a best possible and reasonable solution. For example :

Q. Insert the missing numbers:

                            8       48      12

                            9       45      10

                            7         ?        8

Solution: 28

Q. Your are to fill in the 3 blanks spaces in the following sentence, using the same seven letters in the same order and make it a logical sentence.

THE ……………SURGEON WAS ……………..TO OPERATE BECAUSE HE HAD ………………….

Solution : The letters are Notable, Not Able, No Table.

Throughout the course of everyday, our brain is activated by our senses, and we encounter new stimuli all the time. The kind or strength of nerve cells stimulation that is necessary to activate new brain circuits and enhance neutrophin production. i,e If we are every day writing with a pen and one day we write with pencil, we have broken our routine and are doing something new .so in small way we have changed the pattern of activity in the parts of our brain .But such small change wouldn’t recruit new sensory association important enough to engage the circuitry required to really exercise our brain.

In CCDP Making multi-sensory association and doing something novel is the key conditions for a genuine neurobic exercises. CCDP students are been engaged in the following neurobic exercises:

- eat a meal with your family in silence
- use only visual clues
- listening to a specific piece of music while smelling a particular aroma
- write a paragraph using left hand.

Intention is to do some unusual activity and break the routine activity in an unexpected way. Albert Einstein observed “The significant problems we face cannot be solved at the same level of thinking we were at, when we created them”.
